FORBES.COM -- IRVING, Texas -- Exxon Mobil Corp. said Friday it is has finalized financing and sales agreements so it can begin developing a liquefied natural gas project in Papua New Guinea.

The company said the development positions it and its partners to meet growing energy demand in developing Asian countries.

The project includes gas production and processing facilities, onshore and offshore pipelines with capacity of 6.6 million tons per year.

Exxon, the world's largest publicly traded oil company, said its affiliate, Esso Highlands Ltd., will begin work on the project now that the agreements are complete.

Screw other countries. We need refineries built right here in the USA. This way we can keep up with our demand for fuel. Than have crude oil to be turned into gas right here in the states.

Good for the earth since natural gas is cleaner than coal or oil. Global warming or not, we need clean air and more sources of energy.

Natural gas and coal are the most abundant fuels on earth so why not use them until alternatives come on stream.Lets use them more efficiently through co generation.

Just think ... now speculators can screw up prices on oil AND natural gas.
Maybe, just maybe, new elected politicians next NOV will do something about it.

I think natural gas is the way to go for electricity. We need to find a way to use the left over steam or generated energy. This would take us away from coal. However there should be not cost to the end user for the change. We also need to improve the grid to a smart grid and eliminate the line loss. Conservation keeps your money in your pocket.

Rather see them in the Dakotas, Alaska and off shore drilling for oil. As long as they are creating jobs, they are at least doing more than the hussien regime is for America.

I don't know how much Exxon made for 2009, but for 2008, it was: Exxon Mobil reported the largest annual profit in U.S. history Friday, making $45.22 billion on the back of record oil prices.

remember that next time you drive by an Exxon and look at their prices and again when you pay your utility bill for heat. at least we have gas and oil . . . lots of people over there have no clue what to even use it for much less what it is

those high prices we are paying are actually going to be spent on something other than lining the pockets of the top Exxon executives . . . .

LNG is good for excess supply situations. Exxon Mobil will be able to make easy gains in shuttling natural gas to where it is needed.

I agree this may all seem boring (yawn), but;

On the day after the news broke that the Courts upheld “Under God We Trust” on our money - and the words, “Under God” is constitutional in the Pledge of Allegiance, as we enter the Holy Days of Saturday and Sunday, is there a way we can put aside our differences?

It is my hope and prayer that we can all find common ground and move to a future that protects our children and their children.
